HACKET GULCH

Having tackled that white-knuckle hill, the rest of the trail seemed easy.

I wish I'd gotten a picture of Danny dropping this ledge in Chug-Chug. It was a thing of beauty. Here BamBam shows off his new found flex. I took the shortest part of the ledge, and made it down without scraping.

The water was running a little high that day through the stream crossing at the end of the trail. I rode across in Chug-Chug and, by choosing a good line, we got just a little water in the floor boards. That was enough to convince me I could make it. Crossing over, we did fine. The water was just below the side molding and the seals held up. Coming back, however, I couldn't see the bottom and missed the line. I got a little panicky when I looked out my window and saw the water was several inches ABOVE the side molding. (Thank God for good weather seals.) Anyway, I came through a little too fast and shed driver's side "tupperware" (pointless plastic trim) on a tall rock in the stream. Ahh, BamBam's first modification. I removed the other side later, under more controlled circumstances.
